You drive your own 4-dog team, following the guide. It is also possible to hop into the guide’s sled.
Date : December to April.
Included : A 4-dog team with material for one person. One guide per 4 teams. Cold gear : Parka, bibs, mittens, boots, hat.
- Half day : 2 hours of dogsledding. Snack and hot beverage provided. Night not included.
- Full day : 4 hours of dogsledding. Lunch and snack provided. Night not included.
- 1 to 3 dogsledding days. (Depending on package chosen) Meals: from the lunch of the first day to the lunch of the last day. 1 to 2 nights in the musher’s log house.
Not included : Alcoholic beverage. Taxes (5%). Shuttle from Whitehorse to Alayuk Ranch ($ 30/ pers, round trip)
Children : Half rate from age 6 to 12, sharing a sled with an adult. From age 12 (30 kg minimum), it is possible to drive a 3 or 4-dog team.
Itinerary : Scenic. 30 to 40 km a day. Every day, a different trail !
Level : You should be in good health and in good shape. Beginners are welcome.
Meals : Lunch: Various sandwiches with soup, cereal bar. Water, tee or coffee. Supper: Complete meals with meat or fish or chicken with rice or potatoes, dessert, water, tee or coffee. Breakfast: Toast, butter, homemade jam, eggs, tee, hot chocolate or coffee.
Special meals on request.
Comfort : Single or double room. Shared bathroom, shower available. High speed internet.
Climate : Winter is usually cold and dry. Snow from November to April.
Safety & Communications : Our guides are accredited with a wilderness medicine certificate. We carry a satellite phone (for emergencies only) and we have a snowmobile ready for rescue operations.
Gear & Clothing : You will need to bring a few things to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. This list is non-exhaustive.
Winter boots rated for- 60°, slippers for inside the cabin, warm socks and spare, warm underwear and spare, warm clothes, comfortable clothes for inside the house, warm parka and bibs, warm hat and balaclava, sleeping bag, gloves, warm mitts, sunglasses or ski goggles. Your personal health care products (protect your skin and lips from the sun and cold), wipes, hand warmers.
If you don’t have all the gear and pieces of clothing, we will be glad to lend you the missing items. Please let us know in advance (we will need to know your sizing).
