Hiking the Tombstone Mountains – 7 days
This exceptional mountain must be seen at least once in its life. We offer two backpacking trips in the fabulous Tombstone territorial park known for its abundant wildlife: black bear, grizzly bear, caribou, Dall sheep, moose and wolf.

Included: Professional guide with GPS, satellite phone, spray anti bear, bear canister. Transportation from Whitehorse and back by vehicle. (1200 km). National park’s fees. Meals from the lunch of the first day to lunch of the last day. Nights: Camping. Camping gear, sleeping bag.
Not included: Alcoholic beverages, your travel/cancellation insurance, your health/rapatriation insurance. Your personal expenses.
DAY 1: Meeting with your guide in Whitehorse. Transportation by vehicle from Whitehorse to the Dempster Highway, Km 91. Short hike and camping at the Tombstone campground.
DAY 2: We hike following the North Klondike River. Camping in the wilderness.
DAY 3: We hike to Divide lake. Camping at the rustic campground.
DAY 4: We hike to Talus lake without the backpack and come back to Divide lake campground.
DAY 5: We hike to Grizzly lake. We camp at the campground.
DAY 6: We hike back to the Dempster Highway. We camp at the campground.
DAY 7: By vehicle, we go back to Whitehorse.
DATES: From June to September
LEVEL: To be active and in good health. It can be compared with an alpine excursion. We have the backpack to carry. We will carry food and gear (About 15 kg). Moderate to difficult, depending on the route.
CLIMAT: Tombstones weather is mountain climate, changing very fast. It is wise to have clothes for colder temperature as well as a waterproof jacket in case of rain.
SAFETY AND COMMUNICATIONS: Our guides are accredited with a wilderness medicine certificate. We have a satellite phone, a bear spray, a GPS, a bear proof barrel for our food.
NOTICE: For safety reasons, we will take the permission to change an itinerary. Every participant will be requested to sign a waiver of acceptation of risk.
EQUIPMENT: Comfortable hiking boots and backpack. Comfortable clothes with the possibility to cover arms and legs. Warm layer for the evening. Waterproof jacket. Waterproof backpack cover or poncho. Hat, sun glasses, sun lotion, insect repellent. Optional : Walking stick, camera, binocular, flashlight.
